WHAT

This project is a co-creative trajectory set up between researchers from HOGENT and persons with a migration background. Within this toolkit, methodologies are provided in order to make gender perception in context of migration visible and discussable.

HOW

HOGENT organized a physical show in which stories were presented and supported by digital storytelling.  At the end of the process, a physical toolkit was created that serves as a guideline for practitioners, teachers and counselors who work with newcomers in their field.

Story of Gloriose

Gloriose, one of the participants shared her personal story about the education of women in Rwanda and her experience after moving to Belgium. I created a series of illustrations that support her story.

Different stories

Apart from the individual stories, general stories of newcomers were portrayed. Tools were collected and developed to make themes discussable with people with a migration background. Based on those stories I got my hands on the concept sketches. Starting with specific situations and slowly shifting to a more general accessible storytelling.
